LG Optimus V Specs and Review (Virgin Mobile)

LG Optimus V is a dual-band EV-DO Rev 0 (850/1900 MHz) device with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. Unlike the Optimus M on MetroPCS, the Optimus V can hit 3G data speeds. That's important for Web browsing, streaming audio, and other Internet-based apps. It doesn't work as a mobile hotspot, though; for that, you'll need the Optimus S over on Sprint

Virgin Mobile left the LG Optimus V 600 MHz CPU, customizable home screens, and Android 2.2 build intact. By going with this phone, you don't get Sprint's streamed video and music services, or NASCAR and football tie-ins. But you do get plenty of other useful features, including free Google Maps Navigation for voice-enabled, turn-by-turn directions, plus powerful push email and an excellent WebKit browser. You can also browse, buy and download over 200,000 third-party apps in Android Market.

LG Optimus V makes a fine multimedia device as well. It comes with a 2GB microSD card preloaded in the side-mounted slot. My 32GB SanDisk card worked fine, and there is also 157MB of free internal memory. There's a standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the phone and music sounded fine over a wired headset.
